People First
Oboe succeeds by providing an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, whether they are employees or external contractors, including management and support staff, project managers, tradespeople, labourers, advisors, consultants, suppliers or clients.
Risk Mitigation
Oboe Group strives to minimise risk across all areas by:
- Accurate, detailed and timely reporting to the Board of Directors
- Building quickly to limit exposure to changes in market conditions
- A lean operating model with low fixed overheads
- Accurate costing of projects and internal financial control
- Mandated strong Balance Sheet, reinforced by secure income-generating assets
Planning
Detailed planning is the key driver of efficient residential construction. Like sheet music before a symphony, detailed plans across all areas must be completed and verified to ensure they fit together before any construction commences.
Positive Social Impact
The overarching purpose of the Oboe Group is to deliver a positive impact on the health, wealth and well-being of all New Zealanders. Each project, activity and design can be rated by its social impact.
Minimising Carbon Footprints
Each company in the Oboe Group can deliver world-class solutions including:
- Near-net-zero embodied carbon in construction through extensive use of timber and low carbon components.
- Near net-zero carbon emissions over the lifetime operation of each house through designing high-performance, energy-efficient structures, computer thermal modelling of solar gain and passive cooling, internal HVAC ventilation systems, hydronic electric heating including hot water systems, and solar power generation.
- Exceptionally low construction site waste and recycling where feasible.
Continual Improvement
On a formalised and regular basis, all systems, components, and practices will be reviewed for potential improvements. Everyone will be encouraged and rewarded for improving operational efficiency, including advancing AI use.
Innovation, Research and Development
The Oboe Group will continue to gain a competitive advantage through innovation that delivers significant cost reductions or value creation. This includes searching for and evaluating new materials and methods, as well as investing in research to create new solutions to choke points.
